Bull’s Siphon
Constructed around 1906, Bull’s Siphon is located on the WWC, 3 km upstream of Campaspe River Siphon near the township of Rochester. The structure now well over 100 years old had essentially failed hence replacement as the preferred option at a cost of $2.7M. The original siphon was 6 barrels and will be replaced with 4 larger 3.0 m diameter pipes. At 65m in length, headwalls upstream and downstream will also be included. The structure will be constructed and managed by GMW’s Field Services unit.
Campaspe Siphon
Constructed in 1908, Campaspe Siphon was significant engineering feature of its time. The siphon consists of 3 parallel conduits of an approximate 3.35m (11 feet) internal diameter and approximately 81m long constructed as a cast in-situ reinforced concrete pipe structure and headwalls. Rehabilitation of the siphon is taking place through structural relining lining at a cost of $3.7M. The Contract for relining was awarded to Downer Pipetech.
