Greater Shepparton City Council (GSCC) has recently added a new landfill cell. Hear from GSCC’s Project Manager Paul Newcombe and Waste Supervisor Jason Perna on the project out on site.
GSCC owns and operates the Cosgrove Landfill Precinct which is located approximately 20km to the east of Shepparton. The landfill is a Type 2 landfill accepting solid inert waste, putrescible waste and other waste types in accordance with Schedule 2 – Waste Acceptance Tables of the License. The current operating cell (Cell 1) at Cosgrove 3, is nearing the end of its useful life and the Council has constructed a new landfill cell (Cell 2) to ensure uninterrupted continuous landfill for the community. Cell 2 has a design capacity of approx. 500,000m3 or 4 years fill capacity based on 65,000 t p/a.
